About

Chris Hartman and Gene Wilson are the Youngstown, Ohio musicians behind alternative rock band Frederick Fleet. Fully self-published and self-funded since their inception in 2016, the two are free to make music on their own terms.

The band’s debut album, The Vanity Suite (2018), was produced entirely in the basement of Hartman’s then-rental house and spawned fplus studios, the project’s publishing wing. Fast-paced and straightforward, the album contains angsty motifs and tight, guitar-driven songwriting.

Apocalyptics (2025), a seven-track concept record about living in the end times, is the group’s latest and most ambitious project. In today’s dopamine-driven, short-form world, the album provides a serotonin hit with longer-than-average track times and songs that connect seamlessly to accommodate extended listening. The dynamic track list features a reimagined Sacred Harp traditional with saxophone, an ambient- and electronic-inspired love song, and plenty of guitar solos.
